Our Mission

We’re building a year-round community ice rink in San Luis Obispo County — a home for youth and adult hockey, figure skating, learn-to-skate programs, speed skating, and inclusive recreation. Beyond sport, this facility can flex into a concert and convention venue, bringing year-round cultural and economic energy to the Central Coast.

Ice sports + youth pathways
A place for kids to fall in love with skating, build confidence, and thrive in structured programs.
Community gathering space
Public sessions, community events, and inclusive programs that make “winter sports” feel local.
Multi-use venue
Designed to support concerts and conventions when ice time isn’t scheduled.

Where We Are in the Project

The groundwork is real — this isn’t just an idea. Here’s what’s already in motion.

Feasibility confirmed
A feasibility study completed with Cal Poly supports demand and long-term viability.
Sponsor interest + site exploration
Multiple parcels with appropriate zoning have been evaluated, and sponsor conversations are active.
City presentation
The concept has been presented to SLO City Council, with encouragement to grow community momentum before matching funds are considered.
What kind of site are we looking for?
We remain open to additional sites in the 8–10 acre range, with approximately 1.5 acres for the rink facility and roughly 7 acres dedicated to parking to support peak attendance and larger events.

Why This Rink Matters

This project is designed to serve an estimated 300,000 residents across San Luis Obispo County — giving families a new recreational outlet, expanding youth programming, and growing hockey/figure/speed skating close to home.

Sports
Hockey • Figure • Speed • Learn-to-skate • Clinics • Tournaments
Families + kids
Year-round recreation that creates new traditions and keeps opportunities local.
Events
A flexible venue for concerts and conventions as well.

How Community Support Helps Rinks Get Built

In many California communities, rinks become real when early supporters create visible momentum — proving demand, attracting sponsors, and strengthening the case for larger gifts and public/private partnerships.

Step 1: Visible community demand
Donations, shares, sign-ups, and turnout show decision-makers that the region truly wants the facility.
Step 2: Sponsors + anchor donors
As momentum grows, sponsors and major donors are more likely to commit.
Step 3: Partnership + build phase
With demand and funding traction, site selection, design, permitting, and construction become actionable.
